Bayern Munich is ready to win the Champions League.
There was a lot of buzz going into the PSG game, and understandably so. Bayern Munich has been the hottest team in Europe this season with an unprecedented 15-game win streak (NOW 16!!!), and PSG are the reigning European Champions. This was always going to be the biggest battle in Europe.
And Bayern Munich delivered. And they looked like a team that is all set to win the competition from the very beginning. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the undisputed favorite to win the UCL in the 2025/26 season, FC BAYERN MÜNCHEN!!
The first half was total domination, with Bayern bossing possession, generating countless chances, and putting the hosts to the sword with 2 well-taken goals. At one point, it looked like they were running circles around a bunch of teens at the local turf. The passing sequences were immaculate, and Luis Diaz, Harry Kane, Serge Gnabry, and Konrad Laimer really shone with some unbelievable link-up play.
That isn’t what made this opinion so conclusive, though. It was how Bayern looked when the squad was down to 10 men, with the team working as a tight, cohesive unit and grinding out the win against the strongest of opposition. Michael Olise was outstanding in defense, Dayot Upamecano was an absolute monster, and Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer were showing off their 2 extra lungs with that effort.
And of course, there is none more deserving of praise than the standout performer of the night, the greatest goalkeeper to ever walk on grass in general—Manuel Neuer. These are moments that define a true captain, and Neuer was just that tonight. Commanding the defense, asserting his presence, and rallying the troops to fight and protect the lead, and with it, a precious three points that sees Bayern on top of the Champions League table standings.
Tonight’s effort was a testament to the team’s resilience. That dogged spirit, that Bayern identity that we have sorely missed the past few seasons. This fire, this passion, this talent, and this cohesiveness make this team an unrivalled powerhouse in Europe. Vincent Kompany has conjured a monster. Bayern Munich has reclaimed its throne at the top of Europe, and every other team out there better watch out.
It is indeed still early in the season, but there is no team that can currently beat a healthy, 11-man Bayern side. And apparently, not a 10-man Bayern side either.
It’s time to bring The Big-Eared One back to Munich.
Bayern Munich pulled out a wild 2-1 victory in a game that will be talked about quite a bit. So, why don’t we kick it off. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
