Bayern Munich is reportedly feeling confident about its ability not only to extend star center-back Dayot Upamecano, but also to do so on financial terms amenable to the club’s bosses.
From Sport1 reporter Stefan Kumberger, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Bayern remain relaxed regarding Dayot Upamecano’s future and are relying on Vincent Kompany as their ‘X factor’ to convince the defender to stay. Within the club, it is said that Kompany is the main factor behind Upamecano’s current form and that he can convince him that the footballing aspect is more important than a couple extra million. Upamecano is a player that needs the full trust and support of the coach in order to perform consistently, which he currently has in Kompany. Bayern are relying on that [@StefanKumberger]
How far can Bayern go relying on this? Well, fit and comfort level can mean everything to a player’s success. But it is hard not to see a player of Upamecano’s caliber as having plenty of options — and being well within his right to explore that at a juncture in his career where can command such heavy interest in his services.
