Bayern Munich competing for 16-year-old star

by admin

Bayern Munich is, and has been, on the market for defensive depth. With the likes of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae uncertain about their situations, the club might need to invest in some new blood. In this case, some particularly young blood.

A report from Sport Bild, captured by @iMiaSanMia, tells us that Bayern has joined the race to acquire 16-year old talent Kennet Eichhorn’s signature. The youngster, currently under contract at Hertha BSC, is actually being monitored by multiple big names in the Bundesliga. Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig, and Bayer Leverkusen, as well as scouts from multiple international clubs, are all looking to sign Eichhorn, which must be more than flattering for the youngster himself. The report tells us that these clubs are looking to invest in Eichhorn as they believe he has potential, so even though they may not urgently need someone to fill in a position, they believe he could do that in the near future.

One little thing that may slow down this interest could possibly be Hertha’s asking price for Eichhorn. Playing in the 2. Bundesliga, the club wants to maximize on this opportunity, and so has slapped a €20m price tag on Kennet. Such a steep price for such a young player may be quite unattractive to some of those clubs, but seeing as they’re looking to invest, perhaps they believe Eichhorn is worth it.

What do you think? Should Bayern purchase such a young player for that much? Or should they focus on their youth program? Let us know in the comments!
