According to a report from Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Borussia Dortmund is getting worried that it is going to lose star center-back Nico Schlotterbeck.
The reality of not have a great chance to win trophies and head coach Niko Kovač‘s disciplined ways could be wearing on the 25-year-old:
There’s a growing concern at Borussia Dortmund that Nico Schlotterbeck will decide against extending his contract at the club. Schlotterbeck is aware that the likelihood of regularly winning trophies at BVB is not particularly high — in addition, it is said that he’s not exactly happy with Niko Kovač‘s pragmatic style of football. Bayern are amongst several top clubs keeping an eye on Schlotterbeck’s situation. His salary would be easily manageable for the club.
Bayern Munich’s involvement with Schlotterbeck is likely 100% dependent on what happens with Dayot Upamecano (free agent in 2026) and Kim Min-jae (not getting regular minutes). Should either (or both) of those players leave, it is not hard to think that the Bavarians would make a push to bring in Schlotterbeck.
Schlotterbeck has improved greatly in recent season and could be a very nice addition to Bayern Munich’s squad shouldbe look to leave BVB.
Bayern Munich sputtered into the international break with a 2-2 draw against Union Berlin.
While it was tough watch at times, there is no reason to panic…right? Right?
Right — and let’s talk about why, plus more on the next edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:
