Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane has been a fox in the box so far this season

by admin

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has been the most dominant player in the world so far this season.

With 23 goals and three assists in 17 games across all competitions, Kane has been an unstoppable force.

So…what is the difference between this season and last season? Per some nifty graphic work from Opta (via Sky Germany as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Kane’s movement has been greater and he is covering more area overall on the pitch:

Kane has definitely been more active and opportunistic, but the attack has been better overall as well. Luis Díaz has been active and his movement has created a playing field where opposing backlines have to account for him and his dynamic runs off-the-ball. Meanwhile, both Serge Gnabry and Michael Olise have been equally as mobile in the final third.

When mixing in Lennart Karl, who “waterbugs” himself all over the place, there is a great chance for Kane to use his intelligence in a more broad area as pockets of space open up. It seems as if the enhanced movement of his teammates has allowed Kane to be more targeted with his own movement and capitalize with later runs into the space.

Granted, some of Kane’s movement should be more broad given that he has plays a No.10 several times already this season. The bottom line, though, is that it is all working and Kane is having an all-time season.

Bayern Munich is on break and the German national team has taken center stage, but that does not mean we are bereft of topics.
