Dayot Upamecano showers Bayern Munich boss with praise

by admin

Bayern Munich star center-back Dayot Upamecano has made great improvements in his game and one of the reasons why is the influence of head coach Vincent Kompany.

Kompany, of course, was a star defender for Manchester City and has helped refine the respective games of the players on his backline.

“He really helped me with my positioning, body positioning, how to approach the long balls, and when. We got straight to work from day one. There are very precise body positions to respect. I think I did that well against Paris. We do a lot of video analysis; some sessions last 30-40 minutes. We’ve become a team, a force,” Upamecano told L’Equipe (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Kompany’s work with his defensive group is undeniable. While not perfect, players have improved and the backline has become more steady since Kompany took over. In the biggest moments, fans do not always have to hold their breath and grip their couches hoping for the best.

Now…there is a sense of confidence that the job will get done successfully.

Bayern Munich sputtered into the international break with a 2-2 draw against Union Berlin.

While it was tough watch at times, there is no reason to panic…right? Right?

Right — and let’s talk about why, plus more on the next edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:
