According to a report form Kicker’s George Holzner (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is monitoring the situation of Bayer Leverkusen star Alejandro Grimaldo:
The name of Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo is increasingly being mentioned at Säbener Straße. It is said that Bayern are monitoring the Spaniard’s situation.
This report is curious to say the least. Grimaldo’s appearance breakdown for his career is as follows:
Bayern Munich is already well-stocked on the left-side of the pitch, especially at left-back. Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Itō are due back at team training after the international break, while Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer were more-than-adequate fill-ins in the absence of Davies and Itō. Raphaël Guerreiro was also in that mix at times as well and can be used at left-back against the right opponents.
It is hard to fathom where Grimaldo — who is a great player — would fit with Bayern Munich at 30-years-old. Perhaps, an exit for Guerreiro next summer would make Grimaldo attractive for that jack-of-all-trades role on the roster.
The German national team is back in action and has two very winnable games during this international break. With Luxembourg and Slovakia on deck, the Germans should be well-poised to pick up two victories.
Against Luxembourg, Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann should be able to play with his lineup a bit, but against Slovakia, Nagelsmann will have to be on-point. Last time around, Slovakia stunned the Germans 2-0 and Nagelsmann will want to avoid a repeat of that flat performance.
This is what we have on tap for this episode:
