Bayern Munich and German national team midfield stalwart Joshua Kimmich picked up an injury ahead of their match against Luxembourg, which the Germans went and won. The 30-year-old is still sidelined but is determined to play in the crucial match against Slovakia in Leipzig. The Germans’ coach, Julian Nagelsmann, looks like he doesn’t want to take risks with his player.
“I’m cautiously skeptical,” Nagelsmann said (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “He’s extremely ambitious, but we have to see what’s reasonably possible. It would do us a lot of good if he were to be on the pitch.”
The Germany-Slovakia match is essentially a tiebreaker where the winner punches their ticket to the World Cup, whilst the team who draws the short straw will have to get past the dreaded play-off round. Die Mannschaft will be looking to avenge their 2-0 defeat away in Bratislava and show the world why they’re rightfully one of the top 10 teams in the world.
