Bayern Munich could offload Sacha Boey during January transfer window

by admin

It is no secret that Sacha Boey is on the fringes of Bayern Munich’s first team squad. Bayern’s board member for sport Max Eberl was rumored to not have been happy with the decision to make signing, made a mere month before his appointment, while the French right back struggled with injury after injury upon joining the Bavarians. He has thankfully finally enjoyed an injury free season so far (knock on wood), but he is still struggling to make an impact on the team. Add to this Bayern’s reported interest in Feyenoord’s right back Givairo Read and the signs point to only one thing: An eventual Sacha Boey sale.

But could he already be sold in January? According to Bild reporters Tobi Altschäffl and Christian Falk, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, that is Bayern’s plan:

Bayern would be willing to listen to offers for Sacha Boey in January. The club already wanted to sell the Frenchman in the summer, and now want to take advantage of the momentum considering that Boey is getting game time and could therefore have a market. If a club comes in and offers a suitable fee, Bayern are ready to negotiate.

From a cold business perspective, it makes sense to sell him now. His game time may indeed give him a market and, with defenders Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Itō slated to return to full fitness before the end of the year, the former Galatasaray defender may be pushed further down the pecking order. It makes business sense to sell him in January. But it would be an unfortunate end to Boey’s Bayern stint. He arrived with such promise, fought through multiple injuries, was pushed down the pecking order and never once complained about any of it. Unfortunately, that is just business.
