Welcome to the FC Bayern Campus Round Up, where the matches of Bayern Munich’s U-17 and U-23 squads are recapped, line ups are provided and the highlights to the U-23 match is hyperlinked on top of their respective score line, though unfortunately Bayern did not release highlights for the U-17s. The U-19s did not play a match this weekend, so they are excluded from this round up. Information on the U-23 and U-17 matches is provided by the official FC Bayern website here and here, respectively. If you wish to learn more about the format of the U-17 and U-19’s youth leagues, you can find more info here. Additionally, none of these matches can be viewed in full length without an FCBayernTV subscription. Without further ado, here is the round up:

Bayern II’s record in the last 8 games had been 1 win, 2 draws and 5 losses. So no matter what, they hosted struggling Viktoria Aschaffenburg with the knowledge that this HAD to be a win. Sure, Aschaffenburg had not won since September and are in the relegation zone but this team needed to make a step forward and it did.
VFB Stuttgart U-17 6-2 Bayern U-17, Matchday 11
Bayern lineup: Podar-Stiube – Ajayi, Pucci, Zogaj, Horvath – Danioko (46. Hentcho Nseke), Pavic, Horoszczak (79. Babl), El-Chaar (46. von Taube) – Schaff (85. Sindi), Assomo
Goals: 1:0 Konstantinos Karangelis (9.), 2:0 Enrico Wiehle (15.), 3:0 Konstantinos Karangelis (34.), 3:1 Kuba Horoszczak (48.), 4:1 Ata Cebi (60.), 5:1 Kian Speidel (65.), 6:1 Kian Speidel (70.), 6:2 Luca Babl (82.)
On the weekend the U-23s finally decide to turn up, the U-17s blow it completely. Funny how these things work. This was a difficult three game week for the U-17s, having traveled to Freiburg and edged past their U-17s in midweek before making another trip to Stuttgart, who were 2nd in the table. Perhaps that can help explain the defeat, but it does not explain the margin.
Still, it does not matter in terms of the table. Bayern still sit pretty in first place, 2 points clear of Stuttgart and a crucial 5 points clear of third place Stuttgart Kicker with 3 games to go. Bayern’s quest to qualify for the next phase of league play is still very much on track.
