Bayern Munich retain interest in Midtjylland striker Franculino Djú

by admin

Bayern Munich were linked to a lot of different players last summer. Forwards of just about every shape and size were rumored to end up in Munich. Nico Williams, Bradley Barcola, Florian Wirtz, Nick Woltemade, etc. One of the more low profile players that Bayern moved to sign, however, was Midtjylland striker Franculino Djú. The Guinea-Bussau international enjoyed a breakout campaign for the then-Danish champions, joining from Benfica and integrating into the first team. This form saw him enjoy from several big teams, which of course includes Bayern. However, Djú was still at FC Midtjylland at the end of the transfer window.

And the 21-year-old has made best use of his second season at the club, taking his game up a level, scoring 13 goals in 13 games and adding 3 goals in 4 games in the Europa League. Perhaps this is why, according to Danish news site bold (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), the German champions still have an eye on him:

Bayern are still interested in Midtjylland striker Franculino Djú (21), having failed with a late bid for the player in the summer. A scout from the German club was in the stands at the MCH Arena on Monday to watch Djú in action against Aarhus GF, where he had a good performance and scored a goal.

Bayern have made it a habit in recent years to shop in the “top 5” leagues in Europe. The one excursion was the signing of Sacha Boey from Galatasaray. With Djú still under contract until 2029, any move for him would come with plenty of risk. But sometimes risk can be worth the reward.
