Bayern Munich appears to be on the prowl for another young midfielder — and are scouring top-flight leagues outside Europe’s top five to do so.
After the recent rumor linking the Bavarians to Anderlecht’s Nathan De Cat, there is now another report linking Bayern — loosely — to AZ Alkmaar’s Kees Smit.
Newcastle United are interested in AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit (19) but they face stiff competition from the likes of Bayern, Real Madrid and Barcelona. AZ are open to selling Smit, but only for a club record fee in excess of €25m. Smit is keen to test himself at the highest level as soon as possible [@SkySports_Keith, @AnthonyRJoseph]
Smit has broken out this year in the Eredivisie — becoming an every-match starter for his club and already nearing his minutes played total from a year ago. If the report is to be believed, a whole host of Europe’s top clubs are after him, so it’s no surprise that AZ is apparently holding out for top dollar.
