Bayern Munich’s Christoph Freund says Lennart Karl’s U-21 call-up was right step

by admin

Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund was happy to see Lennart Karl take the next step on his international journey with a call-up to Germany’s U-21 side.

“I do think he deserves it. Nothing was handed to him on a silver platter. He earned his playing time, has consistently proven that he can compete at this level, he gives his all in every training session and every match. We’ve also been in contact with the DFB, and I think it’s a good step, even though he’s still very young,” Freund told Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Karl has made quite the impression so far, but he does need some seasoning. For those clamoring for Julian Nagelsmann to bring in Karl to the senior team, it might be a bit longer as he refines some parts of his game.
