Vincent Kompany’s starting XI against Bayer Leverkusen appeared to be quite the head scratcher. Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Díaz were replaced by rotational players Nicolas Jackson, Raphaël Guerreiro, and Lennart Karl.
All three players had decent showings but Jackson in particular stood out. In the 31st minute, Jackson was in perfect position on a cross from Konrad Laimer. Jackson delivered a powerful header that sent shockwaves through the arena and gave Bayern a commanding 2-0 lead.
After the goal, Jackson lifted his jersey to show a message on his undershirt. According to Tz, Jackson’s celebration was very personal.
But who was the goal celebration for? Fokzo Sané, an influencer from Senegal who recently passed away, was apparently a friend of Jackson’s. It was an emotional evening for Bayern Munich ‘s on-loan Chelsea player on several levels . Not only was Jackson’s goal celebration noteworthy, but so was the joy of Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany after the striker’s goal.
There is not a lot of public information regarding Sané’s death or Jackson’s connection to his fellow countryman. At the very least, Jackson had a solid performance that Bayern fans will hope leads to more goals and celebrations for the loanee from Chelsea FC.
