In January, James moved from Rayo Vallecano to Mexico – more precisely, to Club Leon. But the Colombian’s time at his new club could already be over. According to Mexican TV reporter Paco Vela, the superstar will be gone after the first half of the season. And there’s a simple reason for that.
Because the club is in a serious crisis. With 13 points, they are currently second to last, and it doesn’t look like that will change in the short to medium term. “León is already preparing for next season without James. It’s not official yet, but you can consider it a certainty,” Vela stated.
After the return of championship-winning coach Ignacio Ambriz in September, fans hoped for a turnaround. But even he couldn’t prevent the team’s decline. According to Medio Tiempo, the coach would have liked to continue working with James. However, both sides apparently agreed to end their collaboration.
According to transfer insider César Luis Merlo, the date for James’ farewell match has already been set. He is scheduled to play his last game against Puebla on November 8th. After that, his time in Mexico will most likely come to an end. It is still unclear where the former Bayern Munich star might move to next.
