Nathaniel Brown (22) could make his second appearance for Germany on Friday in Luxembourg (8:45 pm). The left-back certainly deserves it. After all, he’s now delivering top performances for Eintracht Frankfurt, even in the Champions League.
Just over a year ago, nobody would have predicted this. After his move to Nuremberg, Brown didn’t make Eintracht’s European squad. He didn’t make his first league start until November 2nd, 2024. He scored in the 7-2 win against Bochum and improved steadily thereafter.
“Kai Havertz had a similar pace back then in Leverkusen. He turned professional at 17 and then played Champions League football relatively quickly. Ultimately, it’s like this with young players: if they listen and want to learn, and if they have a certain basic potential, it’s not unusual for them to go down that path,” Markus Krösche (45) draws an interesting comparison in the BamS interview.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director brought the young international player in from the second division last year for just €3 million (plus bonuses). Now, world-class clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Real Madrid have him on their radar.
Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella (27) moved from Brighton to Chelsea in 2022 for €65.3 million. As BILD has already reported, Eintracht Frankfurt is considering a similar fee for Brown . Or am I wrong, Mr. Krösche?
“Yes! Because he has three exceptional abilities that you can’t learn,” the sports boss clarified in the interview, explaining: “He’s smart and tactically astute, has great technique, and is very fast. And all of that is necessary to have a great career ahead of him.”
