Eberl, Kimmich discuss Luis Díaz’s dismissal vs PSG in the UCL

by admin

One does not score two goals against the European champions every day, so Luis Díaz must have been feeling pretty good after giving Bayern Munich a 2-0 lead in the Champions League clash against Paris Saint Germain. That changed around the stroke of half time, when the Colombian’s challenge on Achraf Hakimi resulted not only in a serious injury for the Moroccan (ahead of the AFCON) but also saw the Bavarians reduced to 10 men. Midfield general Joshua Kimmich spoke of Díaz’s anguish: “He was particularly down at halftime because he knew it would be difficult for us (playing with ten men),” the Germany captain said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, though he added that the final score, a 2-1 win victory for Bayern, changed the situation. “After the game, he was extremely happy – and so were we, of course. I hope he won’t be suspended for too long and will be back soon.”

Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, also chimed in on the former Liverpool FC player’s state of mind after the match: “After the game, he stood in the dressing room and high-fived everyone. That shows our team spirit: He is grateful to the team, but the team is also grateful to him for the two goals,” Eberl explained.

Who knows exactly how the team spirit would have looked like if Bayern had not seen out the victory? Fortunately, we’ll never know.

Bayern Munich pulled out a wild 2-1 victory in a game that will be talked about quite a bit. So, why don’t we kick it off. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
