Germany’s Julian Nagelsmann makes captain selection, reveals who will replace Joshua Kimmich

by admin

Former Bayern Munich coach and current Julian Nagelsmann manager has made some important decisions regarding the team as it prepares to face Luxembourg.

First, Nagelsmann has named Jonathan Tah as acting captain in the absence of Joshua Kimmich. There was speculation that Leroy Sané would get the nod.

“Jona is in the team council. Unfortunately not many of them are available. Jona deserved it through his performances and also his position, as he has the game in front of him. He’s playing a very good season at Bayern alongside Upa. He deserves to wear the armband tomorrow,” Nagelsmann said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

As for who will replace Kimmich at right, RB Leipzig’s Ridle Baku will man the position.

“Ridle Baku will replace Joshua Kimmich in the starting lineup tomorrow. Jonathan Tah will wear the captain’s armband,” said Nagelsmann.

The German national team is back in action and has two very winnable games during this international break. With Luxembourg and Slovakia on deck, the Germans should be well-poised to pick up two victories.

Against Luxembourg, Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann should be able to play with his lineup a bit, but against Slovakia, Nagelsmann will have to be on-point. Last time around, Slovakia stunned the Germans 2-0 and Nagelsmann will want to avoid a repeat of that flat performance.
