You know the numbers. At the time of writing, Harry Kane has notched an unbelievable 12 goals and 3 assists in 7 Bundesliga matches while showing no sign of slowing down. In a season in which the England captain is dropping back further and further to facilitate the play and spray incredible long passes across the pitch, he is scoring more than ever before. How incredible is that?
Yet Jonathan Tah believes it is not necessarily Kane’s playmaking skills or his incredible goal scoring. Instead, in the press conference ahead of the Champions League match against Club Brugge, the defender highlighted Kane’s defensive work:
“There’s far too little talk about how Harry works defensively. He pushes us all, he carries us along. Harry runs back and defends all the time,” Tah explained, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “You can’t teach that to anyone; you have to want to do it – when someone like Harry Kane does it, it pulls everyone along. That’s what makes him so special.”
Hard work, slide tackles at the edge of his own box and all the rest…at the moment, it seems Kane can truly do anything he wants.
