According to a report from Sport Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER), Bayern Munich is still in talks with Dayot Upamecano. However, complications still exist in the negotiations:
Bayern is in talks with the advisors of Dayot Upamecano over an extension of the expiring contract. Financially, there is no agreement yet. Upamecano is currently already earning up to 16 million €. The sticking point is said to be demands for a signing bonus.
Per the report, the big signing bonus for Alphonso Davies is not something that Bayern Munich wants to do again — at least not up to that level:
Alphonso Davies pocketed 17 million € for his signature. Bayern would be reluctant to pay such a sum again. With Upamecano, the bosses are now hoping for the “Kompany effect”. Upamecano has developed very well under Kompany and feels extremely comfortable with him.
So…what’s next? Well, Bayern Munich’s executive are gambling that Upamecano will eventually wave a white flag on his signing bonus request (or at least getting a signing bonus of that magnitude):
In the executive suite, they are betting that Upamecano might be willing to make financial concessions for further collaboration with Kompany. An agreement still has not been reached. The supervisory board has not yet been presented with concrete figures from Eberl & Friend regarding Upamecano.
Time is ticking. Other clubs will have their chance to formally talk to Upamecano in the coming months. Surely, at least one of them would be willing to pay Upamecano’s requested signing bonus.
Welcome to Bavarian Podcast Works — Edges and Underdogs, a BuLi Action Show!
This is not your run-of-the-mill gambling show as we are putting more focus on the ins-and-outs of the actual match day’s showdowns, rather than an odds-driven format (but yes, you will get the odds as well). This podcast is for people who watch the Bundesliga intently and who want to dive into some of the big games for each match day. Through that, we will also provide some information that could help those seeking to make a wager or two.
Each week, we will highlight three matches to talk through and break down who has the edge, who might be hurting, who is susceptible to being upset, who’s getting hot, and more! This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Edges and Underdogs, a BuLi Action Show:
The bottom line…it’s time for some action.
