Luis Díaz scored from a tight angle as Bayern Munich were trailing away to Union Berlin, where he kept the ball in from the goal line and fired it past a hapless Frederik Ronnow. Vincent Kompany said after the game that this was a timely intervention from the Colombian.
”We really needed that moment of brilliance from Lucho”, a relieved Kompany said (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “Of course he could’ve scored another goal afterwards, but the quality we have in this team is what we need to achieve our goals during the season. 3 goals he’s scored this week, that was good for him.”
Although Lucho has fumbled a 1v1 just minutes after scoring, his off-the-ball work cannot be understated. It is for that reason that his absence against Arsenal in the Champions League will be felt dearly.
