FC Köln vs. Bayern Munich: Gamethread and Live Blog — Lineups are out! Josip Stanišić is back in the starting XI

by admin

Bayern Munich is officially off to the best start in European history. After 13 consecutive wins, each upcoming match will become tenser as the streak becomes a target for opponents. Since winning consecutive DFB-Pokal titles in 2019 and 2020, Bayern has gone 2-3 in the second round of the domestic knockout tournament.

In recent years, Bayern has held a dominant advantage over Köln, winning 18 of the last 20 encounters. The other two matches ended in 1-1 draws.

Köln earned promotion back to the top flight this season after winning the second division title in 2024/25. Köln is currently sitting in eighth place with a record of 3W-2D-3L.

Odds: Bayern (-400), Draw (+550), Köln (+750)

Prediction: Bayern wins 3-1. This will be Bayern’s toughest match of the season. Tired legs and a gritty opponent on the road will test Bayern. Köln will score first off a set piece, setting the stadium on fire. Right before halftime, Michael Olise will earn a penalty kick and Harry Kane will do his thing to start a new scoring streak. Sacha Boey will be the unlikely hero by scoring the game winner in 63rd minute off a double deflection. The game will stay tight until Lennart Karl scores a stoppage time stunner to send the crowd home in tears.
