Josip Stanišić reveals that he and his Bayern Munich teammates thanked Luis Díaz for his red card against Paris Saint-Germain

Bayern Munich was levels above Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League but was on the backfoot for the second half following the controversial dismissal of Luis Díaz. The Bavarians ended up winning 2-1 which marked the club’s 16th straight win in all competitions. Perhaps Lucho felt a bit of remorse for his sending off? According to his teammate Josip Stanišić, that apparently was not the case.

“No, he didn’t apologize. He was also happy with the win. We actually thanked him [for the two goals],” Stanišić said (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). Nevertheless, the Croatian defender praised his team’s defensive display. “We showed that we not only can play football, but also fight in such games, and win them even with 10 men. I’m very happy we got the 3 points.”

Díaz is set to miss the following Champions League matches against Arsenal, Sporting CP, and Union Saint-Gilloise. The Colombian will be available in time for the final league phase match against PSV Eindhoven.

Bayern Munich pulled out a wild 2-1 victory in a game that will be talked about quite a bit. So, why don’t we kick it off. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
